It's never too late to begin playing the violin and become really good at it! Author and teacher Janice Tucker Rhoda uses The ABCs of Violin for the Absolute Beginner, Book 1, the popular book from her path-breaking instruction series The ABCs of Strings for Violin, Viola, Cello and Bass published by Carl Fischer Music. Her method makes learning to play a bowed string instrument easy and enjoyable for all ages! Students have fun playing popular folk, classical, and fiddle tunes while focusing on correct posture, basic music reading, and rhythm.
Janice uses The ABCs of Violin Books 1 through 5, The ABCs of Duets for Violin and advanced etude, double-stop and scale books. Vibrato technique is introduced by the end of The ABCs of Violin for the Intermediate, Book 2. Concertos and advanced solo pieces along with Bach Unaccompanied Partitas and Sonatas are studied when appropriate. Easy to advanced duets are played regularly with both children and adults depending on each student's level. Janice also accepts adult students wishing to learn Viola, Cello and Double Bass. Janice has had 30 years of teaching experience at major conservatories and schools, and gives regular teacher training seminars. Violinist Yuki Beppu began lessons at age 4 with "Miss Janice" using the ABCs of Violin series.
